I built Equity Engine after nearly 20 years working across health engagement, from NHS projects to patient communities, from local councils to national policy. I've seen what happens when organisations treat diversity as a tickbox.
The data we need to change that doesn't exist yet. Not properly. Not at the regional level. Not with the intersectional depth that makes it actionable.
That's why I'm asking 5,000 people across the UK to give me 60 seconds of their time and why I'm personally reviewing every request.

Only the Equity Engine research team. Your data is never sold, never shared with the government, and never passed to third parties without your explicit consent. Full stop.
No. Equity Engine is an independent platform owned by Unwritten Health. We are not affiliated with the NHS, any government department, or any public body. We work alongside organisations to influence change, but your data belongs to you, not them.
Yes, at any time. Email us at [email protected] and we will remove everything within 72 hours, no questions asked. You are always in control of your information.
It continues to power ongoing research. You remain a member and keep earning credits for surveys. Nothing changes without your knowledge, and you can leave at any time.
About the platform
Equity Engine is a research platform that collects lived experience data from people across the UK to build a more accurate, more representative picture of health inequality. The data directly informs how NHS teams, councils, and employers design services.
Ashish personally reviews your request within 48 hours and sends you a personal invitation to join the platform. Once inside, you will be invited to complete surveys relevant to your background and experience. Each one earns you credits.
Because representation matters. We want to make sure the dataset genuinely reflects the diversity of the UK, not just whoever happens to find us online. Manual review lets us ensure communities that are typically left out are actively included. If you are from an underrepresented background, you are exactly who we are looking for.
Credits and rewards
Every survey you complete earns you a set number of credits based on its length and depth. Credits accumulate in your account and can be redeemed whenever you choose.
Inside the platform, you will see your credits balance and a simple redemption option. Enter the amount you want to redeem and an Amazon voucher code is sent to your email within 24 hours.
Yes, the minimum redemption is equivalent to a £5 Amazon voucher. Most members reach this after completing two or three surveys.
Practical questions
Completely free. There is no subscription, no catch, and no premium tier. Equity Engine is funded through its consultancy work, not by charging community members.
Most surveys take between 3 and 10 minutes. You will always be told how long a survey takes before you start it, and you can save your progress and come back later.
Yes, always. You will never be required to complete a survey, and declining one will never affect your membership or your credits balance. Your participation is always on your own terms.
